Recently, Xiaoshan Airport Customs seized a number of restricted cultural relics from an export express. On July 29, when the customs officers of the airport conducted a routine review of a batch of export shipments, the express mail with the name of “arts and crafts†was brought to the attention of the examiner. After the opening and closing inspection, the Customs officers found four old wooden chairs from the express mail. These wooden chairs have a right angle between the backboard, the armrest and the chair. The shape is similar to the folk name of the "Tai Shi chair". There are also exquisite hollow carving patterns on the back of the chair. Customs officers initially judged that these wooden chairs are likely to belong to cultural relics, and the goods were temporarily detained. After the appraisal by the Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, the four wooden chairs were carved wooden armchairs during the Republic of China, which belonged to the national restricted cultural relics. At present, Hangzhou Customs has officially detained this shipment and will hand it over to the customs anti-smuggling department for further investigation.
