EU Develops Display Transparent Conducting Thin Film Technology

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology's website, at present, the display industry, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display panels rely mainly on indium tin oxide transparent conductive thin film technology. However, indium materials are scarce precious metals, and the world market price is fast. rise. In addition, indium tin oxide transparent conductive films are limited in the manufacture of flexible displays, such as flexible foldable touch displays.

The European Union's seventh R&D framework plans to provide 1.1 million euros, with a total R&D investment of 1.4 million euros. The European NanoDiGree R&D team consisting of seven display innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Greece, Austria, the United Kingdom, Spain and Cyprus has been through more than two years. Time's joint technical research successfully developed a transparent conductive film technology based on high-performance copper nanowires. Not only has the cost of display screens been significantly reduced, it has also been successfully extended to foldable touch screen applications.

The new technology has applied for European invention patents. Based on the advanced electric pulse deposition method and the transparent coating technology containing copper nanowires, it has excellent features such as low cost, greener, and large-scale production. It is suitable for flexible products such as ethylene glycol. Accurate alignment ink-jet printing in the matrix high-volume Roll-to-Roll production process. Appropriate low-temperature heating during the production process helps to form a high-strength bonded transparent conductive film layer.

The new technology can be widely used in traditional digital display areas, such as smart phones, tablet computers and billboards. It can also be applied to new areas of e-books, wearable, foldable displays, and even solar photovoltaic power generation.
