Installation Methods for Cylindrical Bore Bearings

When installing or removing cylindrical bore bearings, it's crucial to consider the bearing's layout, size, and the type of fit between its components. The installation force should be applied directly to the end face of the inner ring that is tightly fitted, avoiding transmission through the rolling elements. Applying pressure this way can cause indentations on the raceway, which may lead to premature failure or damage. The inner ring of a bearing typically fits tightly with the shaft, while the outer ring is loosely fitted with the housing. In such cases, the bearing can be pressed onto the shaft first using a press. A soft metal sleeve (such as copper or soft steel) should be used at the end of the device to prevent damage. The inner diameter of the sleeve must be slightly larger than the journal diameter, while the outer diameter should be smaller than the inner ring's rim. This ensures proper alignment and avoids tilting or damaging the bearing. In situations where a press isn't available, a bearing sleeve and small hammer can be used. The striking force should be evenly distributed across the entire end face of the bearing, and the surface should be curved to ensure even pressure distribution. If the outer ring is tightly fitted with the housing and the inner ring is loosely fitted with the shaft, the bearing should be pressed into the housing first. The outer diameter of the device sleeve should be slightly smaller than the housing hole to allow smooth insertion. For bearings where both the inner ring and outer ring are tightly fitted, the device sleeve should be designed to apply pressure to the inner ring's end face. Alternatively, a disc and sleeve can be used to apply even pressure to both the inner and outer rings simultaneously. This method is especially suitable for spherical bearings with self-aligning features. Heating is often used for large bearings with significant interference fits. The bearing or the component to be installed should be heated evenly in an oil bath or special heater to around 80–100°C. After heating, the bearing should be cleaned with a clean cloth and then carefully placed into the housing. It should be pushed all the way to the shoulder in one motion. During the cooling process, it's important to maintain pressure or use a small hammer to tap the bearing gently. The bearing should be rotated slightly to avoid misalignment or sticking. If the outer ring is tightly fitted with the housing, the housing itself can be heated before installation. For light metal bearing housings, heating is essential to avoid damage during installation. --- **Related Bearing Knowledge:** - What to consider when selecting crankshaft bearings for Xiali engines? - Common mistakes when replacing roller bearings with ball bearings in special environments This article was originally published on China Bearing Network. YokeLink Automatic Splice Rated to hold a minimum 95% of RBS of the strand used, can ensure quick and reliable overhead tension splice with fast and easy installation. The conductor simply slips into color-coded, funnel-shaped end piece and enters the pilot cap automatically with a simple push. The pilot cap guides the conductor pass the set of serrated jaws and into the center of Automatic Splice. YokeLink Automatic Spliceare used on ACSR, AAC, AAAC,(Sparrow,Pigeon) conductor for an instant, positive and automatic connection, ANSI C119.4 Full Tension Class A connector.

YokeLink Wedge Connector and [C-Ring" are used to connect solid and stranded aluminum, aluminum alloy and stranded aluminum composite conductors including AAC, AAAC, ACSR, ACAR, AW, ACSR/AW and ACSS. They may also be used in non-corrosive environments to connector copper conductors.
