Compared with the shield, the TBM is more technically difficult, and the cost and size are three to five times that of the shield. In the next decade, domestic TBM demand is huge

The first TBM introduced in China was used in the Qinling Tunnel of Xikang Railway in 1997, when the market price was 260 million yuan. At present, there are 30 TBMs in China, which are completely imported from abroad. Most domestic manufacturers undertake the processing tasks of some structural parts, and do not involve core manufacturing technology. Last year, China Railway Equipment acquired Germany's Wilter Company and became the No. 1 and No. 2 boring machine manufacturer in the world. In March this year, it began to design TBM independently.

Previously, in April 2008, China's self-developed and designed “China Railway No. 1” shield was successfully applied to the construction of Tianjin Metro in the new countryside line in Henan, filling a major gap in the field of composite shield manufacturing in China, breaking the “foreign” Shield" dominates the situation of the world.

The more technically difficult TBM, on the basis of the shield, has taken a step forward. It is estimated that the first domestic TBM market with independent intellectual property rights will sell for more than 150 million yuan, which is at least 50 million cheaper than imports. Due to the price advantage, China Railway Shield has become a representative of Chinese equipment in the domestic market, and foreign brands have gradually withdrawn from the Chinese market.
