The hydraulic transmission system in a diesel engine typically consists of three hydraulic transmission boxes, universal joints, and axle gearboxes. In some cases, such as with shunting locomotives, an additional working condition gearbox may be included. These systems often incorporate various types of rolling bearings to ensure smooth and efficient operation. 1. **Hydraulic Transmission Box Bearings** The hydraulic transmission box plays a crucial role when the train is being pulled. It converts the power generated by the diesel engine into driving force through a hydraulic torque converter, enabling dynamic braking. The locomotive’s wheels are controlled using a hydraulic brake system. Within the hydraulic transmission box, there are several shafting systems, and each shaft is equipped with full-coverage rolling bearings to reduce friction and improve performance. 2. **Central Gearbox Bearings** The central gearbox contains input and output shafts, each with two gears. One of these gears is used for shifting, while the other remains idle. The shifting gear and diffuser are usually located on the input shaft because it handles higher torque. The design of the central gearbox ensures that power is efficiently transmitted from the engine to the wheels, maintaining stability and reliability under heavy loads. 3. **Axle Gearbox Bearings** The axle gearbox is responsible for transferring the output torque from the hydraulic or central gearbox to the axle. It functions as a deceleration unit, converting longitudinal rotation into lateral rotation. The first stage of the axle gearbox typically includes a pair of bevel gears, while the second stage uses cylindrical gears. These gears can be arranged in two ways—either "first column, rear cone" or "first cone, rear column"—depending on the reduction ratio required.
