Once in a Hundred Years of Astronomical Wonders – Capturing the Transit of Venus
June 6, 2012, was the last opportunity to witness the rare transit of Venus this century. I didn’t miss it and took the chance to film it. I used our company’s ND1000 + H-alpha filter along with a second-generation solar filter for safe and clear observation. The setup was straightforward—entirely manual, with an exposure time of 1/125 seconds, ISO 200, and a 2-second delay between shots. Most other settings were left untouched.

The shooting process was surprisingly simple—everything was done manually. I set the shutter speed to 1/125 second, ISO to 200, and added a 2-second delay to avoid camera shake. Other parameters were not adjusted.

This event was truly once in a lifetime, and I’m glad I had the chance to capture it. The images show the tiny black dot of Venus slowly crossing the sun, a breathtaking celestial dance that won’t happen again until 2117.

If you ever get a chance to see such an event, don’t hesitate—grab your equipment and make the most of it.
