Method for cleaning purple sand pot

After collecting a traditional purple clay teapot, it's common to find dirt and residue building up over time. If you're looking to restore your old teapot for regular use, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to properly clean and rejuvenate it:

First, remove the tea buildup. Start by soaking the pot in warm water mixed with a small amount of 84 disinfectant for three to four hours. After soaking, gently scrub the inside with an old toothbrush to remove any stubborn stains. While these stains may be valuable for collectors, they are not ideal when preparing tea, so it's best to clean them off.

Next, eliminate any lingering odors. Fill the teapot with boiling water, then immediately pour it out through the spout. Repeat this process several times, allowing the pot to cool between each cycle. This helps to flush out unwanted smells and revives the teapot’s natural aroma.

The third step is sterilization. Once the teapot is clean, place a small amount of tea leaves inside, then fill it with boiling water. Put the teapot in the microwave for about one minute to kill any bacteria. Be sure to use a cloth or towel to handle the pot when removing it from the microwave, as it will be very hot. Avoid letting water spill out, as this could cause the pot to crack. Place it on a wooden board to cool down naturally.

Finally, restore the teapot’s function by repeating the soaking process a couple of times. Pour out the water each time to ensure all residues are removed. Following these steps will bring your old purple clay teapot back to life, making it ready for daily use again. Whether you're a seasoned tea lover or just starting out, proper care ensures your teapot remains a cherished part of your tea ritual.
