Entity "Cage Riveting"

When a deep groove ball bearing uses a solid cage, it typically employs a long rivet to join the two halves of the cage. The shape of the rivet is similar to that of a short rivet, but the rod is longer, and the head is lower in height. This type of riveting is performed using a long rivet, which allows for one-time forming, much like the method used for stamped cages. In a set of bearings, all the rivets must be fastened individually using an electric riveter. The long rivet mold consists of an upper punch and a lower punch. The upper punch serves as the working punch, capable of withstanding high temperature and pressure during the riveting process. It is usually made from high-speed steel or hard alloy. The lower punch acts as the support punch, providing conductivity and excellent contact with the rivet head. It is typically made from high-quality low-carbon steel or brass. In the electric riveting process, the upper punch is mounted in the fixture beneath the cylinder of the electric riveter, while the lower punch is installed on the worktable. They are aligned with the upper punch. When the riveting begins, the rivet rod is positioned between the punches. Once the current is turned on, the top of the rivet rod is heated to the appropriate temperature. Then, the upper punch is lowered, forming the rivet head and securely fastening the cage. The solid cage used in deep groove ball bearings is generally made up of two halves. These two parts are machined together as a whole, ensuring precision. Especially the ball pockets and rivet holes must be processed simultaneously to maintain quality. After both halves are completed, a matching line is drawn at the inner or outer diameter of the full cage. They are then bundled with a rope to ensure proper alignment during installation. When assembling the bearing, the matching line is located first, and the last rivet serves as a reference point to ensure correct orientation of the two cage halves. This careful attention ensures smooth rotation and a good appearance of the bearing.
