Chen Meizhi's team said that they reformed the traditional beer brewing process and used a fermented lactic acid bacterium as a probiotic microorganism. The resulting L26 probiotic has a strong resistance to hops acids and can produce beer containing probiotics.
It is reported that the National University of Singapore has applied for a patent for this new type of beer and tried to commercialize it.
