Lazy man trick, the simplest post wallpaper method in history

Wall preparation is the first and most important step. Begin by cleaning the surface with a scraper to remove any dirt, dust, or loose particles. Then use sandpaper to smooth out rough areas. For cracks, apply a thin layer of gypsum powder to fill them in. If the wall feels soft or has a powdery texture, it's essential to prime it with wallpaper adhesive before applying the wallpaper. This helps strengthen the surface and prevents peeling later on.

When cutting the wallpaper, measure the wall height carefully and add an extra 10 cm to the length for trimming. Always check the pattern’s symmetry to ensure the design looks seamless when applied. Some patterns may require more adjustment, so it's better to cut slightly longer than necessary. This allows for precise alignment and neat finishing at the top and bottom.

Apply the wallpaper glue evenly onto the back of the cut paper using a brush. Be especially careful around the edges to ensure full coverage and a secure bond. After applying the glue, wait about 5 minutes so the adhesive can fully penetrate the paper. This makes the wallpaper easier to handle and ensures better adhesion when placing it on the wall.

For the actual application, start by marking a vertical reference line using a spirit level. Begin pasting the first strip of wallpaper from the top down, aligning it with the line. Use a squeegee or your hands to press the paper firmly against the wall, smoothing out any bubbles and removing excess glue. This ensures a flat, wrinkle-free finish.

Once the wallpaper is in place, trim any excess at the top and bottom using a sharp utility knife. A sharp blade will help prevent tearing or uneven edges. After trimming, wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth or sponge to remove any leftover glue. This prevents discoloration and keeps the wallpaper looking fresh. If air bubbles appear after drying, gently puncture them with a needle and press the area flat to eliminate the issue.

When working around electrical outlets or switches, turn off the power supply first for safety. Cover the outlet completely with the wallpaper, then make two diagonal cuts from the center to create four triangular sections. Carefully remove the excess paper around the switch or socket using a utility knife. Finally, wipe away any remaining glue with a dry cloth to keep the area clean and functional.
