Cold work die steel performance

When using Cr12 steel or high-speed steel as a cold working mold, a very prominent problem is that the steel is brittle and easy to crack during use. To this end, it is necessary to refine the carbides by means of full forging. In addition, new steel grades should be developed. The focus of the development of new steel grades should be to reduce the carbon content of steel and the amount of carbide forming elements. In recent years, the following new steel grades have been developed and promoted in China, as shown in Table 4.11.

Cr4W2MoV steel has the advantages of high hardness, high wear resistance and good hardenability. It has good tempering stability and comprehensive mechanical properties. It can be used to dry silicon steel sheet die, etc. It can increase the service life by 1~Cr12MoV steel. More than 3 times but the steel forging temperature range is narrow, forging and cracking in Hexian County. The forging temperature and operation specification should be strictly controlled. Cr2Mn2SiWMoV steel has low quenching temperature, small quenching deformation and high hardenability. It is said that 7W7Cr4MoV steel can be substituted for W18Cr4V and Cr12MoV steel. Its characteristics are that the carbide non-uniformity and toughness of steel are greatly improved.
