U.S. Department of Agriculture Supports Cellulose Ethanol Enterprises

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has provided guarantees for a sum of US$ 405 million to support three commercial grade cellulose ethanol projects in the United States. Coskata, Illinois; Enerkem, Mississippi; and Ineos New Planet Bioenergy, Florida, all received funding.

Koskata received a $250 million plan to build a new 55 million gallon/year cellulosic ethanol production facility in Greene County, Alabama. The device will be the largest set of cellulosic ethanol plants currently under planning and will use woody biomass as raw material.

Ai Nakai has received US$80 million in ** and plans to promote the Pantok Bio-refinery project, which will produce 10 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol per year, mainly using municipal solid waste as raw material. Ineos New Planet Bio-Energy Company received $75 million** for the construction and operation of a 8 million gallon/year cellulosic ethanol plant.
